No one is allowed in the club who is not an act, an employee, or a person attending the show. The way to avoid trouble is to have good security.

In 1975, the year the tragic Blue Angel Fire happened, we became the first night club to be granted a public assembly license. The new fire regulations that are now in effect were not official at that time. The NYC Building Dept. informed us of the new requirement that they were going to propose to the NY State Legislature in Albany. We had a choice, do everything they required of us (even though the current laws did not require us to meet the new and costly regulations) or fight them in court; of course no license would be issued until the courts made its decision. So we borrowed a bunch of money and we gladly complied and after 13 months we opened as the newest and safest Club in the city.

When the show room was constructed (we took over two back yards) no combustible material was used. There is nothing that will give off any toxic fumes. We do not have a kitchen on the premises; we get our food from our neighbors. The entire street level and the entire basement level are fully covered by water sprinklers. Each level has emergency lighting that is tested monthly. We also have a fire alarm system that sends a signal directly to the local firehouse 3 blocks away. This system is maintained by a separate security company and is staffed by licensed operators 24/7. This system is also inspected and tested monthly. We have twice the required amounts of fire extinguishers; they are all maintained, tested and recharged by a licensed company every 6 months. In addition there are about 20 licenses and permits that we renew on a yearly basis. There are also numerous inspections through the year by various agencies and we have never failed an inspection or not had all the necessary permits that are required.
